Solid Wood Platform Beds – Built to Last in Brooklyn

At Scott Jordan Furniture, we have been making platform beds in our Brooklyn workshop for over 30 years.  All of our platform bed frames are made from solid hardwood sustainably harvested from local forests.  Our preferred wood species are American Black Cherry (prunus serontina), black walnut (juglans nigra), sugar maple (acer saccharum),  or red oak.

We are convinced that the sturdiest and most long lasting method of constructing a platform bed is to bolt the side and end rails to the posts. Crafted in this manner, the platform bed frame can last for the life of the wood; a hundred years or more.

This also means that our mattresses are supported by an array of hardwood slats that provides a flat firm surface for the mattress. This promotes ventilation and evaporation of moisture while allowing the mattress to perform at its best. 8″ to 14″ mattress heights work just fine with our platform beds. Choose from several headboard styles in a wide range of designer fabrics on display in our showroom at the Brooklyn Navy Yard.

The mattress rests on a framework of flexible slats and lifts to reveal  18 cubic feet of storage completely hidden under the mattress.  It’s like having a Seven drawer dresser under your bed.

The lifting is assisted by gas filled pistons, and adjust to two positions. That allows for easy reach to make up the bed.

All beds completely disassembles for delivery into any space. Delivery in 8 – 10 weeks
