Walnut Wall Unit Bookcase Crafted for a Beach Apartment

We built a wall unit bookcase pair in walnut to flank a door in a 800 sq ft apartment near the beach.

The unit on the left incorporates a small desk and doors hiding an existing service closet. The space above the desk frames a pre-existing pass through to the kitchen (not pictured).

The wall unit bookcase on the right provides a space for a plasma screen with a glass-doored cabinet below that houses electronic components. The base of the vertical elements are sculpted to go around the baseboard allowing the rear plane of unit to rest against the wall.

We generally work in American cherry, walnut, or maple finished with a natural, hand-rubbed oil and wax treatment.
